Resources that combine Theodicy, Suffering and Comfort?

Just looking for any books that are meant to comfort those physically suffering that might also tackle questions of theodicy and the problem of suffering. While, I can intellectually grasp the basics of God's providence, I am unsure how to unpack it in a meaningful and comforting way to those around me without the overuse of platitudes, if that makes sense...

Could Boston's "A Crook in the Lot" be one?

Behind a Frowning Providence by John J. Murray (very short 29-page booklet from Banner of Truth)

James Buchanan's Comfort in Affliction and Improvement of Affliction. They take in the whole system of truth applied to the subject. He personally experienced ill health and was laid aside from the ministry at different times.
