I have a buddy who thinks that the SL&C was mainly or totally due to the Regulative Principal of Worship. He thinks, also, that the RPW is unscriptural. Therefore, he thinks that the SL&C and the actions that followed (war against the King, Long Parliament, Westminster Assembly, etc.) were a huge and diabolical act of rebellion.
Anywho, if we grant his premise that the RPW is unbiblical (which I don't), do any of you think that the SL&C was exclusively or primarily about the RPW? If not, what, in your research (note: not just opinion) were the factors that led to the SL&C?
