Someone please offer a more biblically sound statement or reflection for this film other than:

• the deep divide and resulting problems between rich v poor and class distinctions
• virtue or lack thereof is found in both rich and poor i.e. “They’re nice because they’re rich.”
• etc.

I wish Vos was around! Someone hit me with a biblically sound and compelling response that this film deserves...PLEASE!
 
I have had a few people recommend I see it. They said it was unexpectedly good.

It is true that poor people often have poor ways and the rich are trained into a cultured etiquette which appears "nice" even though many make their money off of exploitation. I am sure Chelsea Clinton speaks more politely than I do, for instance, and yet my father never mistreated a soul even though he used rough speech.

Chelsea, like her odious mother, is very grating to listen to speak.
 
I saw the film Parasite with a friend who had downloaded it for me. The film is very intelligent and really quite superbly directed, but it is not a family-friendly film. Christians should steer clear. The rating, apparently, is 15+, which doesn't make sense to me. For shocking violence and one scene with sexual content, it should be restricted.

The film makes some social commentary, some of it quite fair. But it does not pass judgments on the characters -- it leaves the viewer to do that. (I found myself sympathizing with the wealthy Park family throughout the film.) What you will notice are visual metaphors (ie. going upstairs or downstairs, or "crossing boundaries"). Every frame is intentional.

If you do see this film -- and, I repeat, you really shouldn't -- you'll be thinking about it for weeks afterwards.

To the OP: It's safe to say that pretty much any film held up by Hollywood is going to be opposed to a Christian worldview.
