Please feel free to let us know what your pastor preached on in his sermon today and what you took away from it for edification and application for your Christian life. Also if you are a pastor, please feel free to let us know what you preached on today!

My pastor is starting a short 4-week series for the Advent season on the four titles given to the Messiah in Isaiah 9:6. He discussed Christ being our "Wonderful Counselor" today -- specifically, how His omniscient knowledge, His wisdom, and His power enable Him to be this for us. He emphasized that while Christ has wisdom for every area of our lives, He provides counsel most particularly with regards to sin and guilt. I will be back at my PCA church at home for the next five weeks (it's finals week this week) so I won't be able to be there for the other three sermons, but I will make sure to keep up with them online when my church posts them.

From Mark 16:7-16 we considered the question of unbelief in believers, and the catastrophic unbelief of rejecting the Gospel.

In the morning we had two young people professing their faith -- I preached on Matthew 16:24-25 about the contours of Christian discipleship. After the public profession of faith, we also celebrated the Lord's Supper. It was a particularly joyful service.

In the afternoon service, I preached on Exodus 32:1-6 in connection with our catechism lesson from Lord's Day 35. The theme of the sermon was "Worship the true God in his ways alone." I spent a bit of time exploring the connection between the Second Commandment and the First.
