Isaac Casaubon (February 18, 1559 - July 1, 1614), Swiss-French Huguenot classical scholar, was considered by many of the most learned men in Europe of his day. His son Meric was also a great scholar (The Cambridge History of English and American Literature identifies Meric's commentary on the Psalms, his contribution to the Westminster Annotations, as one of the most reknowned of his era). Their biographies are worth reading.
