I've recently become pretty good friends with some Anglicans. I don't think they have a very good grasp, though, on the Protestant and Reformed roots of Anglicanism. Who are some Anglicans that I could talk about who are strong on the Reformation solas and authority of Scripture? Past or present.

So far, I have J. C. Ryle and Graeme Goldsworthy

J.I. Packer and John Stott are both modern Anglicans who are strong on the Reformation and the authority of Scripture. The Oxford martyrs Cranmer, Latimer, and Ridley. William Wilberforce and John Newton.

Wasn't George Whitefield an Anglican?

Originally he was, I believe he may have lost his position in the church because of Methodism (i.e. that he went with the new Methodist church), but he may have stayed in the Anglican church.
