G.K. Beale Biblical Theology-Similar book recommendations for laymen.

I recently purchased Beale's Biblical Theology of the NT and His Union with the Resurrected Christ. As a layman I find the sheer volume of material daunting. Can anyone recommend similarly themed books that are condensed and distilled more for laymen? I do like theology but find these a bit bloated for my taste. Thank you.

Graeme Goldsworthy's stuff is really good, too.
