The first recorded sermon that took place on American soil was preached by deacon Robert Cushman of the Pilgrim colony at Plimouth, Massachusetts and entitled, "A Sermon Preached at Plimmoth in New England, December 9, 1621 in an Assemblie of his Majesties faithful Subjects, there inhabiting. Wherein is shewed the danger of selfe love, and the sweetnesse of true Friendship. Together with a Preface, shewing the state of the Country, and Condition of the Savages."

Andrew,

Do you know if this is available on Mp3 or CD?

Oh, wait, what am I talking about? They didn't even HAVE mp3's back then!

Do you know if its available on 8-track or maybe on a 45?

Aha! Gotcha!!!

Wouldn't that be cool if it was, though!

 I guess his sermon predates even 45's and 8-tracks, but it was the first sermon published in America. The full text of the sermon (there is a slight date discrepancy) is found here.
