Anyone know what THIS Edwards was like? I have an opportunity to purchase for very little a copy of his work against Socianism. ( A Preservative against Socinianism in four parts, 1693-1703)

I was looking online and found out very little about him.

Anyone?

Of the various places that I looked, I found the most information about him in the Dictionary of National Biography, under his name.

He was principal of Jesus College, Oxford, for several years, then the vice-chancellor (1689-91), as well as holding various preferments (multiple ones, in fact). Thus he was not a Puritan or dissenter but a C of E man.

His work against Socinianism takes as its "fundamental position" that "Faustus Socinus is not to be allowed to rank as a heretic, but treated, like Muhammad, as the founder of a new religion" (DNB, 6:541-542).

Very interesting. Thanks....I may reconsider purchasing it, but I do think it would be a fascinating read...
