Alistair Begg Transgender Wedding Controversy

Hello friends,

Have you been following the Alistair Begg situation this week? I'm deeply troubled and saddened by it, myself. Here's Dr. Matthew Everhard of the PCA to explain it if you're not aware (see youtube link below). Sadly, Begg seems to have doubled down, no sign of recanting or admitting he's made a mistake.

Anyway, if anyone would like to share their thoughts, I thought I'd leave this here for your consideration.

Anthony

One more helpful video with John Piper Response...

I get what he's saying...but...
"Here's some nice beef flank."
"Was it sacrificed to Jupiter or any other god besides YHWH?"
"Oh yes. And we fornicated in it's presence."
*Swallow*
"We are so grateful for the meat. Here's 40 denarii and go get us some more."

This is very surprising and disappointing from Pastor Begg. I really appreciated Pastor Everhard’s response..up until he appealed to Romans 14 which seemed to contradict what he previously had said by leaving it up to the grandmother’s conscience and thus leaving open the possibility that it could be acceptable if she felt so. But otherwise a thoughtful response. JP said it best.

I agree it was an excellent response. The sense I got though was this: Grandma is torn up in her conscience about this, and she's obviously not feeling right about going. On top of the Scriptural reasons that Pastor Everhard gave, she also has the testimony of her own conscience which is not letting her be easy about this, thus it's one more witness on why she should not go. I think Everhard is saying that the witnesses of Scripture and conscience are both stacked against attending. In the end though, great video.

Yea that is possible what he meant. Though I would say that it perhaps still remains not the most prudent scriptural appeal (re. conscience) as if, by some sort of personal reasoning, she became convinced, in her conscience, that it actually would be ok, and perhaps even more loving, to attend then she may (given that her conscience would allow it). However, it would still remain not the right thing to do.
