This is too pricey 'just to pick up' but for me at least this fascinating article was in full view, and less condemnatory than many of the covenanters.

End-notes are difficult enough to manage in hard copy, but on googlebooks they make it a reading experience to forget.

Agreed; notes belong at the bottom of the page. Yes; I was very happy to see the whole chapter. I have ordered the author's recent book on the same subject, Rethinking the Scottish Revolution: Covenanted Scotland, 1637-51. I just open a duplicate of the Google Books page in another tab and set it to the end notes section and am then able to switch back and forth between text and referenced end notes.
